Your DIY Treatment – Our step by step guide
Select your products and prepare accessories like cleansing brushes, sponges/make up pads and masque brushes.
Prodermal tip: Set up your products in the order that you will use as it makes for easy access and flow.
Let’s start!
1. Cleanse
Start with Precleanse and apply into dry hands. Massage over dry face and eyes to dissolve surface oil and dirt. Wet hands and continue to massage until you see a milky emulsion. Rinse with lukewarm water. Now, follow with your Dermalogica cleanser and remove with damp sponges or make up pads.
Prodermal tip:Always use light massage movements and touch when you cleanse so that you don’t overstimulate your skin.
2. Follow with Exfoliation
Regular exfoliation helps to stimulate cell renewal and is vital for a glowing and smooth textured healthy skin. Dermalogica have a range of exfoliants that are designed for most skins.
How to apply and use your chosen exfoliant:
Gentle Cream Exfoliant is an excellent choice for all skins because it is powerful exfoliant that uses enzymes and non-abrasive hydroxy acids to improve the skins texture. Apply a thin layer and let activate for 10 – 15 minutes. Rinse well.
Prodermal tip: For an extra boost, mix in a couple of drops of the Skin Renewal Booster with the Gentle Cream Exfoliant.
Skin Prep Scrub is a great exfoliant for normal to oily skin. It is a skin polishing scrub which leaves the skin smooth and healthy looking. Apply with damp hands and massage over skin with fingertips and remove with damp sponges.
Prodermal tip: Use with the Exfoliating brush for added exfoliation benefits.
AGE Smart Thermafoliantis a powerful thermal (heated) skin polisher that is part of the Dermalogica AGE Smart range. It contains both physical and chemical exfoliation ingredients to target the signs of mature or prematurely aged skin. Apply to a damp skin and massage in light circular movements for 1 -2 minutes. Rinse well with damp sponges.
Prodermal tip: Not for sensitive/sensitised skins or skins that are easily irritated.
For a professional finish, use a warm damp hand towel to remove any further excess product from your skin.
Prodermal tip: Use a drop of essential oil like lavender to the warm water to soothe and your skin and mind.
3. Time to relax with a dewy skin DIY massage
For some of us, the best part of a professional treatment is the massage. Massage provides so many benefits to our skin and psyche like relieving tension and encouraging great circulation to the skin. Self massage is made easy with our Dermalogica dewy skin DIY massage and for best results, Use Dermalogica’s Phyto Replenish Oil for most skin types or alternatively try Super Rich Repairif your concerns are extreme dryness or premature ageing skin.
Watch and follow the simple Dermalogica Dewy Skin DIY massage technique.
4. Now to Masque
Masques are used for specific concerns and each masque can provide a dramatic improvement and boost to your skin. Enhance your DIY treatment by using a masque and apply in a smooth layer for up to 15 minutes or as recommended on the packaging. Remove with damp sponges and then use the warm damp towel to remove any excess product from your skin.
Prodermal tip: You can “patch work” different masques onto your skin if you have more than one skin concern, but be sure not to “overlap” them.
This is the perfect time to have some digital detox too! Use a heat pack and place on your tummy or behind your neck for extra relaxation, listen to your fave tunes or simply zone out for a few minutes and practice some deep breathing techniques.
5. The finishing touches
Boosters and serums can be applied here for added skin benefits. Don't forget to spritz with your chosen toner to hydrate and help facilitate your finishing products. Daily Resurfacer is also perfect to use in this stage as a leave on exfoliant that also a provides hydrating and polished finish to the skin.
6. Your moisturiser
This is the final application for your DIY treatment. Use you chosen moisturiser and apply over your skin. If you are heading outside be sure to add in a sunscreen application too. Your skin should feel smooth and hydrated with a healthy glow. A DIY treatment is perfect for once a week or in between your professional skin clinic treatment for ultimate results.
