Hello Bright Eyes! Stress Positive Eye Lift

Part two of our “stress and the skin” post continues…

Dermalogica have once again proved that they are at the forefront of the skin health awareness industry with the latest launch of their Stress Positive Eye Lift  treatment product.

The Prodermal team recently attended the launch of this newest and most anticipated product from Dermalogica.

Emma Hobson, Dermalogica’s Education Manager, who launched the product in Australia, discussed not only the effects of stress and the skin but also the effects of eustress or positive stress. Emma explained that good stress can;

  • Motivate us and help us to focus more
  • Is perceived within our coping abilities
  • Can feel exciting
  • Improve performance.

While Distress or negative stress can;

  • Cause anxiety or concern
  • Feel unpleasant
  • Can lead to exhaustion and a decline in health.

Hobson further explained that a stressed skin can include dehydration and fine lines along with puffiness and dark circles. The eyes are always the first to show these tell tales signs as they have a thin skin barrier. If you are tired, blood circulation tends to slow allowing oxygenated blood to pool and become more visible under the eye area.

The innovative Stress Positive Eye Lift treatment addresses these skin concerns to reduce the visible signs of ageing, while helping to brighten, energise and reduce the look of puffiness.

This “hybrid” formula can be used on all skins, but especially tired stressed skin. It can be used in a few ways;

  • As required as an eye treatment boost
  • As a masque
  • As a treatment with the eye lift DYI.

The active treatment gel cream works with the skins natural microbiome and good bacteria to encourage skin health with the use of the ingredient, Diglucosyl Gallic Acid.

Hydration is achieved with the use of a Hyaluronic Acid blend to ensure that the eye area receives moisture for both the deeper layer and the barrier layer of the skin, whilst Fermented yeast is used to generate a lifting effect and firm the skin.

Wild Indigo Seed is also included in the formula to stimulate beta endorphins which helps to slow down the stress hormone cortisol. It’s also a great antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and brightening ingredient to help reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Sea Water and Arctic Algae which are mineral rich, stimulate the natural moisturising factor in the skin and help to reduce puffiness and the look of heavy under eye bags.

The texture of the product is between a gel and a cream and feels cooling and light as you apply with the metal applicator. Hobson suggests keeping it in the fridge if you want further cooling effects. She recommended using it every few days, or everyday depending on your preferences and skin needs. The Stress Positive Eye Lift can be used night or day but Emma personally prefers using it at night whilst using an eye product with an SPF during the day.  Its also perfect as an in flight "pick me up" for tired eyes or for an extra boost of luminosity and hydration, try dabbing a small amount over make-up.

The clever research and development team at Dermalogica, have also created a DYI massage that works beautifully with the Stress Positive Eye Liftwhich you will find within the packaging, or you can watch it here.

They have also developed a fun smartphone application called the stress positive test which allows you to measure your own stress levels! Link: stresspositivetest.com
